Jules Verne Restaurant
Worth the Splurge
The Jules Verne was one of the most extravagant and memorable parts of our trip to Paris. Dinner can be VERY expensive so we decided to try for a lunch reservation. There is an excellent price fix menu at lunch that allowed us to sample the fine cuisine without busting our budget. However we did enjoy it so much that I do hope to return for dinner someday.
When we arrived at La Tour Eiffel we bypassed the long lines of sweaty tourist and took a private elevator up to the restaurant. The room was simple and refined but the real ambiance comes from the view. We were seated directly next to a window and were able to fully absorb the panorama.
We dressed up a bit for lunch to really complete to experience, but there were diners dressed informally. The wait staff gleamed with the professionalism of fine French dining. Our waiter spoke perfect English and even performed his Boston accent for us and chatted about our beloved Red Sox. The food felt non stop but completely unrushed including the best lamb my husband has ever eaten an excellent fish tartar and multiple desserts. The waiters were happy to let us stay at the table all day while we finished our wine, wrote post cards and enjoyed the view.
My only disappointment was the lack of a cheese selection on the dessert menu, but that was negligible. Overall it was an amazing experience.
