Lost Horse Creek Lodge Inc
Great time
Wow. I have to wonder if the reviewers stayed at the same place we did? Our family vacationed at the Lost Horse just last week and had a great time. We rented one of the queen cabins (2 beds) with bathroom and jacuzzi tub. The rooms were very clean and cozy. The kids loved having a fire in the wood stove at night and it was hard to keep them out of the jacuzzi tub. Not having a phone or TV in the cabin was just what we were looking for to break us out of the home-life rut. There is so much to do in this area we would come back in the evening, have dinner, relax in the lodge and call it a night. Normally I need an alarm clock to wake up, but I found myself up early in the morning to enjoy the fresh air. A nice break from my normal 45 minute commute to work in traffic. We ate almost exclusively at the lodge. Steaks were great and made to order. Fresh vegetables and the salads were the best. Kids loved the hamburgers and fresh-cut french fries. Most of our meals were had in the family friendly saloon and restaurant. The owner and waitpeople made sure we were very comfortable and took exceptional care of us. We were surprised at how friendly everyone was and met some great people, both locals and guests. Dining and dancing on Saturday was a lot of fun. Horseback riding along the creek was a high point for my wife and kids. We also had full days of exploring the area. I'd recommend going to the Big Hole historical battlefield and Bannack state park ghost town if you want to get into the mountains and learn about the area. I'm not a fisherman, but there were highway signs for fishing holes every 3-4 miles as you drive along the Bitterroot river. Usually it takes me a few days to unwind on vacation before I can really start to relax. Within a few minutes of getting there we were greeted warmly and soon forgot all about our hectic lives back home. Definitely a good sign for me.Reviewed on: May 12, 2008
