One of our Honolulu favorites!

During the five years we lived in Hawaii, we ate at the Shore Bird probably a hundred times. Every time we had family in from the mainland, off we went to our favorite restaurant!

The concept behind the Shore Bird is that you order your meat, fish or poultry and they deliver it to you raw. You then cook it yourself on one of their huge beachside grills. You can order side dishes a la carte and the salad and sides bar is also available. The wait staff is happy to give you tips on how long to leave your food on and they keep the drinks flowing.

Shore Bird is not a “cheap” restaurant to eat at, but the food is fantastic (try the world’s best potato salad off the bar…it’s to die for), the staff are friendly and you do not want to miss the most beautiful sunset over Waikiki beach!

Dress and atmosphere are casual.

Get there early (right before they open for dinner) because unless things have changed, they don’t accept reservations and it fills up quickly. Trust me, though, it’s worth the wait!
