TravelCom in Las Vegas
Last week was the TravelCom / Res Expo show in Las Vegas. It appears that travel suppliers are still very interested in adding 2.0...
Community of travelers, by travelers, and for travelers…
Ok, so the phrase is borrowed, but that's beside the point. What
are we trying to do here at Gusto?
Well, it started as a
way for friends to share travel advice, and has grown into a
community of people who are passionate about travel. Travel
reviews
written in isolation have very little value, but a review by
someone you know, or by someone who shares similar ideas about
Let the debate begin
Well, I've thought a lot about how, or if, I should respond to the recent article by Arthur Frommer in which he talks about his disdain for sites like Gusto. Personally, I like...
A Happy New Year
I hope everyone has already started out the year on a great note. I'm sorry to those members and friends whose emails took a little longer to get a response from me than normal; I was just taking my time and enjoying my wife and kids company. We did a little traveling (of course) and did a little relaxing. I'm glad I got it out of my system for a while anyway, as the new year here at Gusto is shaping up to be a very busy one. I've been inspired by the travels of other Gusto...
New Record Day
Thursday of last week was a new record here at Gusto, and I want to thank and welcome all the new members. I've had a lot of feedback over the past few days, and a lot of great suggestions that will improve Gusto. If you have any thoughts, please post them here or send me a message.
World Series 2006
More to come, check out the pics in mygusto. Ok I'm back. Anyhow, we did make it to the series, big thanks to Shippy and Credenza. A party for all in St. Louis.
Alone with my emails
Well, another weekend has gone by answering Gusto members’ emails. This is great, I’m happy there are so many good questions and comments. I want to thank everyone who has written in and taken the time to let Gusto live up to its potential for them. I am here if you need me. Oh Yea, go Cards!
Gusto in the New York Times
Well, Gusto made the New York Times. The travel playground, that is what the Gusto Grabber gives you. Even had a mention of my good friends wedding. Gusto is getting increasingly strong support of what it set out to do, let those who love travel share it with friends. Thanks to all the new members,...
Grab with Gusto
The new bookmark tool will answer a lot of questions, and I think make travel planning much easier. Now, if you find something anywhere on the web, you can just highlight the text and click the gusto grabber on your toolbar. It sounds more difficult than it is, and a few people here are already addicted. Let me know what you think.

Record Day at Gusto
Thanks to all the new members signing up on 9/19. I’ve been messaged by a few new members about what is coming on Gusto, and would like to take a little time here to discuss…. Now that members are getting pretty comfortable it seems with the reviews, photos, and blogs on Gusto, we are going to switch some things around to make the site more interesting to play on and more interesting to share and browse. In the next few days we...
Gusto in the Wall Street Journal
September 19th. Well, Mike gets his mug in the Wall Street Journal, very good young man! I think that people are starting to agree that there is value in the social side of travel, but at Gusto we maintain that these sites are only as good as their members. We have members that really enjoy the site, posting pictures, telling stories about their favorite places, and writing travel blogs. We just need more of them! It is understood that a relatively few members will produce the body of...
Summer of Gusto
Well, Labor Day is behind us and the Summer of Gusto has come to an end. The real work begins now. We have waited all summer to put up a Gusto Blog, and it is finally time. I’m going to be posting about what happens at Gusto and about what happens while I travel. I plan on including tips and sharing special destinations. I’d love to hear comments about things for me to write, so don’t be shy. I hope everyone had a good summer, and that there will be lots of posts sharing...
The Gusto blog is a great way to keep a journal online. Gusto members can write detailed descriptions of trips, describe plans for an upcoming trip, tell everyone about their most recent adventures and more. The blog folder can be divided into subfolders to organize entries by trip or by topic.
