Arun's Thai Restaurant

Arun's Thai Restaurant

quote:

Arun’s is a restaurant that raises the question, “How much am I willing to pay for art?” If all you want is that lovely taste of ginger, lemon grass and coconut milk that you find in Thai cuisine, there are loads of places that dish it out at far lower prices. But if you value art for art’s sake and appreciate a chef who kicks it up a notch, then Arun’s offers a pretty amazing dining experience. Flavors will be familiar to fans of Thai food, but everything is elevated to the level of royal banquet by a combination of fabulous ingredients, exceptional preparation, and exquisite artistic details. The art starts with the décor, which combines Thai silks and art from the chef’s collection with clean, contemporary lines and warm colors. Dinner is fixed price, and your only option is the chef’s ever-changing 12-course menu. You will be asked about allergies and spice tolerance, so the dinner can be customized, but there is no actual ordering, other than beverages. Among the cascade of dishes presented to you, you might find banana leaf-wrapped red snapper in yellow curry, pastry baskets filled with shrimp and shiitake mushrooms, spicy chili lobster, pork satay salad, or veal medallions with ginger and lemon grass. Desserts (you’ll get two) might include sticky rice with papaya or coconut sorbet with fresh fruit and red bean sauce.
