Millennium Park

Fascinating and functional landscaping, architecture and design make the 24.5-acre Millennium Park a must-see. Make your way to “Cloud Gate,” get out your camera, and join the families and friends photographing each other and Chicago’s famous skyline as reflected in the curving, mirror-like surface of the 110-ton sculpture known fondly as “the bean.” Nearby, architect Frank Gehry’s flowing ribbons of steel surround the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, where you might join office workers on lunch break and vacationers lounging in the lawn to listen to a rehearsal of the Grant Park Symphony. On hot days, you’ll find local kids splashing in the reflecting pond of Crown Fountain, or in the spray from its 50-foot glass-block towers. And although Millennium Park is one of the city’s top attractions, it’s always possible to separate yourself from the crowd, relax, and take in the sites and sounds of a world-class urban park.
