More Mouseover Maps
I have a suggestion for the Gusto team - could we have more mouseover maps like the world one?
For example, if you browse over to North America, Canada, you get a long list of cities, with no information about where they are, in which Province, which side of the continent it's on. I know the main audience right now for Gusto is the USA - it's your home and all, but if you want to appeal to the global community of the Internet, you...
An active profile = A real traveller
Truly realized today why I like the multi-dimensional profiles here.
I read one blog entry, went to the poster's profile, even though he's only got 5 blog entries, and hasn't put pictures up, or done any reviews, I could tell that he was a real person.
Went to another blogger's profile, found nothing but 3 blog posts all pushing that person's resort. A spammer—a real person,, but writing advertising, not honest review.
Honey, your...
What will they think of next?
Since I've been on gusto! (not that long really), I've seen some good changes. For example, the browse the world option was on the top bar, then gone, then on the very bottom where it was hard to see, and now that nifty mouseover map! Very good.
So, it seems like their techie people can do pretty much anything, so what do you want?
I like the gusto link option—but with over 200 reviews, it takes ages to find the link I want if I'm...
A Glut of Wineries
The climate of the Okanagan Valley, in British Columbia, has all of the necessary ingredients for vineyards, and thus has a thriving wine industry. It's difficult to count the exact number of wineries in the valley, but there's more the further south you go.
With a designated driver (some wineries even offer non-alcoholic tastes to the driver) and a free week, you'd be hard-pressed to get to them all.
Now, I've been to a good number (with guests!), and...
HTML?
I've noticed that yes, we can use html in our profiles, but what about in the reviews? If I'm using a foreign word, for example, I'd like to be able to put it in italics. But since we can't preview our reviews, I don't want to experiement, 'cause random sprinklings of <> don't look nice!! :-)
Navigation & Access
I'm really enjoying Gusto – but I totally feel the need for some clearer access. If i want to suggest a spot, at the moment, I come to my blog entry on the subject, then copy'n'paste the link in the comment to get to the right page.
If you want this site to be truly useful, you need lots of input from your users – so you need a menu with all of the ways users can act here.
I hear (from Jono @ BzzAgent) that we can review cities...
Adding attractions
The potential for this site/community is great – but there needs to be a way to add places.
I lived in South Korea for 3 years, and would like to be able to share all of the wonderful places I experienced.
The Gusto blog is a great way to keep a journal online. Gusto members can write detailed descriptions of trips, describe plans for an upcoming trip, tell everyone about their most recent adventures and more. The blog folder can be divided into subfolders to organize entries by trip or by topic.
