Are you all ready for Farmers' Market season?

The beautiful weather is here, and it'll soon be time for all of us to start shopping locally -- at nearby farms, or at markets.

Supporting your local food economy is an important part of keeping ourselves and our environment healthy  -- and in the USA in particular, you folks have some great online resources for finding local food: for example, check out the Local Harvest website.

I haven't heard of it - thanks for the link!  Looks like a cool story.

Very good point!   I would also suggest that eating food in season is as important as it being grown locally (although they essentially go hand in hand if you strictly buy locally grown food).

Shipping raspberries from Chile to Boston isn't the best user of the worlds natural resources (considering refrigeration, fuel for the airplane, trucking, etc).

Have you heard of the couple in Vancouver who lived the 100-mile Diet for a year? [http://100milediet.org/] Essentially, the idea is you only eat food grown/produced in a 100 mile radius of your home.... They've just written a book about it.
