The Skybus Experience

I recently flew on Skybus, the new low-cost airline based out of Columbus, OH.  Everyone has been asking me how the experience was, so I thought I would post it out here for the greater population.  I was one of the lucky ones who got "$10" tickets.  Ultimately, when you add taxes and fees, the tickets end up costing a bit more than that, but still are a good deal.  Bags are $5 a piece for the first two and priority seating is $10.

So what's it...

The bad luck with hotels continues

The second night of my stay in Lousiana was at a Fairfield in Kenner, LA which is near New Orleans. I checked in early to make sure I had a room (see previous post) and then headed out to see the French Quarter.  When I got back around 9:00 it was dark and I was a little peeved about there being no lights in the parking lot.  When I got to my room, I turned on the overhead light by the door.  I was going to work on my computer while lying in bed but when I went to...

What's the point of being loyal?

I am in Houma, Lousiana tonight and stinkin' mad.  Ok so maybe I was dilly-dallying at the local Wal-mart looking for postcards (they didn't have any …sigh), but one would think that the word GUARANTEE would mean something.  I get to my hotel, a Fairfield Inn (by Marriott…this is important) and they told me they were overbooked and that they didn't have any rooms left.  HELLO!?  Why do I give...

Grand Canyon - Blink and you'll miss it

I had a work assignment in Page, AZ and decided that I would 'stop by' the Grand Canyon during my drive up from Flagstaff, AZ.  Six hours later… I realize that I grossly underestimated single lane roads and construction, not to mention all the crazy drivers who will stop suddenly at 60 miles an hour to buy beef jerkey from a Native American scenic viewpoint.  Still, it was cool.  My first time.  Wish I would've had more time.

Be careful what you ask for!

I just recently flew to College Station, Texas.  The flight between Dallas and College station is a small commuter plane and I found that my bag would not fit in the overhead or under the single seat on the left side.  Fortunately, on my flight down to College Station, others wanted to shift seats and I ended up with the exit row to myself and plenty of room for my computer bag.

Well.  On the way back to Dallas from College Station, I asked the gate rep (American...

Vacouver/Seattle

A blog about Seattle, WA

My husband and I are using Skybus to travel from Columbus, OH to Bellingham, WA which is in between Vancouver and Seattle.  We will be there for 4 nights for our 5 year anniversary.  How should we divide our time between these two cities?   Open to many activities – something that gets us 'out and about' but not too much driving.  Any suggestions for 'must sees' since we have so little...
