I am going to Egypt in a few weeks for the first time. I am very excited but have found a few things frustrating in planning the trip. I had wanted to take the sleep car train down from Cairo to Aswan. I tried EVERY email they had 2 in order to make a reservation. They emailed back 2 weeks later. By that time I just figured they either weren't using those emails and I had to call or perhaps they weren' taking reservations. Needless to say, I made plane reservations instead. Not what I wanted to do but it will get me there.

The other issue I have had is in getting a decent hotel room for 3. Just as with my trip to Australia you must pay extra for the extra guest which is fine but they number of hotels with rooms that will accomodate are much fewer. It has proven to be an issue in Aswan and Luxor. Luckily I did find accomodations with Iberotel Hotel in Luxor and with the Pyramisas Isis Hotel Resort in Aswan. Both look to be beautiful hotels – let's cross our fingers.

As well, just a tip about flying in Egypt. No e-tickets. Remember paper tickets. Still in use there and I can't remember when I had to keep my eyes on a piece of paper like it was gold. 

Those issues aside everything else about planning this trip has been great. I got my tickets through a wonderful travel website called www.bargaintravel.com for just under a grand from San Antonio. Use the air consolidator function to help with finding tickets. They were the least expensive (for weeks on end) and gave me some time to make a decision about traveling dates. That was GREAT!
