Blue Kangaroo

There are restaurants that are child-friendly, and then there is the Blue Kangaroo, where kids are king. This King’s Road favorite is a play center and restaurant, rolled into one noisy, exuberant environment for children and parents alike. From the moment you sit at your restaurant table, the kids will be begging to go down to the Playzone and enjoy the fun. You can sit back and relax, no need to go with them, as you can watch their every move on the big video screen and sip a glass of wine while the food arrives. There are three separate areas for babies, toddlers and older children aged 4 to 7 years, featuring nets, slides and ball ponds. If a screen reminds you too much of Big Brother, opt for the café just opposite the play areas. It serves the same menu as the restaurant upstairs, plus breakfast and light snacks. The food is high quality and mostly organic, with a range that suits both parents and children. The children’s menu includes homemade salmon fishcakes, cottage pie and spaghetti bolognaise made with organic beef mince, as well as the more usual burgers and chicken nuggets. The adults’ menu includes grown-up versions of the kids fare, plus chicken breast in mushroom sauce, grilled sirloin steak and plenty of specials on the board to choose from. On Sundays, the roasts attract dads, as well as mums, for the sheer quality of the meat.
