The Quincy

Great Friendly Staff, Recommended But Please See Review

We stayed at the Quincy for one evening at the end of February. The staff was wonderfully friendly and helpful, and the hotel is centrally located to many, many things in DC. Overall, I would recommend it to friends. We liked the general layout of our room, and having a kitchenette was a nice amenity. Also, I loved the huge, fluffy towels!

I had one BIG issue with the Quincy: I have asthma, and while I am guessing the hotel has been refurbished they need to take additional steps to eradicate the old cigarette smoke that is in the walls, the flooring, and everywhere. When we entered the room I could instantly smell that this was a former "smoking" room. Since we arrived at about 1:00am, I tried to ignore it and we readied for bed. I could not sleep at all that night and suffered an asthma attack. I was close to heading for the emergency room, and therefore would NOT recommend the hotel for anyone with breathing issues.

The other minor issue was with the windows. Our room faced the street, and was covered with wood blinds. The blinds looked lovely, but did not keep out much of the street light; I like to sleep in a dark room, so this was a detriment. Also, the windows need to be upgraded as we could hear each and every noise on the street and we were on the fifth floor.

Again, I would recommend this to others with the above reservations ~ and truly, the staff was fantastic.
