Best Happy Hour in Town

After a drunken afternoon at the North Beach Festival, a group of us found ourselves at Amarena in Russian Hill. Soon after, I became a regular. This cozy restaurant serves up Italian fare at moderate prices by a friendly staff. A few of my favorite choices have been the panzanella, the mixed greens with burrata and the chicken ravioli. Happy Hour is every other Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. While there are no drink specials, they offer a free buffet which usually includes 3 or 4 pastas, salad and bruschetta. A jazz trio provides entertainment. The owner, Paolo, often makes the rounds amongst the regulars.
