Gimme some grease

I might cry myself to sleep tonight because I just learned that the old Stroud’s location is no more. This was a cool old roadhouse-type of place with a man that played piano and took your most obscure request. Apparently, they are rebuilding it down the street, so we’ll see. Anyway, this place has the most crisp, delicious, juicy fried chicken done right and served out of a cast-iron skillet. Personally, I like the sides as much as the bird. There is something about the gravy at Stroud’s. I’m not like a gravy connoisseur or anything, but I would probably eat this stuff with a spoon as a meal, like cereal – it’s that good. The green beans are cooked in bacon grease with little bacon bits. What a flavor. At the end of the meal you get these little cinnamon rolls. I don’t care much for cinnamon rolls but it kinda feels like you get a some kind of bonus.
