New York, New York

A blog about New York, NY
I am going to be in New York for 3 days next weekend.  What do I absolutely have to do while I'm there?  I've never been, and I don't know when I'll get to go back.  Obviously I have The Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building on my list, but what else should I be sure to see?  Please let me know if you've got some great places to see/things to do for my list.  The obvious as well as the obscure are welcome.  Thanks!

If you could only do one or the otehr , i woudl do the Rockefeller center rather tahn Empire state building, in my opinion views are better and its more central to things such as Central park, 5th avenue shopping like Saks. I woudl definitely make it downtown to Wall street and NY stock exchange if possible also take a tain ride over the brooklyn bridge (even in yo coem right back, its an experience).

I live in CT.  I go to NYC at least once a year.  I was there not too long ago and ate at LaMela's Ristorante.  It's nothing to look at, but the food is wonderful.  You must have the family style.  You can tell them when you go in.  The food keeps coming and coming and they charge by course for the number of people you have.  Very reasonably priced by NYC standards.  It is a Little Italy legend.  There are pictures of past patrons covering the walls, some are famous.  They even have a sausage that hangs from the ceiling and it's rigged up to a lightbulb.  I have never gone at night, but apparently they light the thing up and do some kind of a song and dance for it!  Here's the website.  http://www.lamelarestaurant.com/
Hope you enjoy your trip!
