El Cajon

I grew up here

My family moved to El Cajon when I was 13. Contrary to popular belief, El Cajon is not filled with “hicks”. El Cajon is a great place to live. It is a bit off the beaten path being in San Diego’s east county, but it is easy to jump on the freeway and get to anywhere else in San Diego county. It does have a tendency to be about 10 degrees warmer than San Diego proper, though, since it’s located in the valley. But, again, a quick car ride west solves that. It’s difficult to distinguish city boundary lines since one city seems to spill into the next in San Diego without missing a beat. Because of that, we were never missing anything by being in El Cajon. Over the last decade or so, however, El Cajon has been growing quite a bit. Many new restaurants and stores have cropped up, helping out the economy quite a bit. There’s nothing wrong with El Cajon other than the occasional 100 degree weather. But, hey, grab a towel, a bathing suit, and some sunblock and drive out to the beach-problem solved.
