What happened to all the shops?

In the late eighties and early nineties, Quaker Square Mall was the place to go. There was a ton of historical sights to see, and a ton of shops to go shopping at. There was a place called the Spaghetti Factory, which was an excellent restaurant. Last week, A friend and I was in the area, and happened to come accross Quaker Square. We remembered what it was like last time we were there, and decided to take a look inside. We were hugely dissappointed to find out that there were only like three stores open, and a ton of empty space and locked doors. There were still signs that said "More stores this way", and we would go up and down the stairs just to find empty space.

If there is no stores, and just empty space, they really need to take the signs down.

We found one overpriced sandwich/hamburger joint. We don't remember the name, but we did not eat there. You had to order at the counter, the same as if you were at McDonalds, or something, but the prices were really high. The pop was extremely expensive, and they served it in a paper cup.

I read that the University of Akron bought the building, and are going to change it to college rooms and dorm rooms. What a shame. There is no good place to shop in Akron. I think the city is going to die.
