Page, at the southwestern end of Lake Powell, was founded in 1957 in the heart of northern Arizona’s canyon country as a temporary camp for workers building Glen Canyon Dam. It was named for the 1930s Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner John C. Page.
Today, it is a planned community of more than 9,200 people.
Perched atop Manson Mesa, overlooking Lake Powell’s Wahweap Bay, Page has become a major resort area centered on Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and is its headquarters. It also benefits from employment opportunities at the nearby Salt River Project’s Navajo Generating Station. Many visitors use Page as a base for visiting the wild and spectacular canyon country of northern Arizona and southeastern Utah.
Page is near the Utah state line, via US-89 and State Route 98. Page Airport has service from Phoenix.
