Location. The Beach Tower at the Atlantis Resort provides affordable accommodations on the famed Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Occupying 171 acres on the island, which is connected to downtown Nassau by bridge, the Atlantis resort originally was a casino destination in the 1960s. Adopting the mythical theme of the Lost Continent of Atlantis, today the Atlantis Resort is a popular family vacation destination, featuring the world’s largest tropical marine habitat, home to 50,000 fish and sea animals.

Hotel Features. The nine story Beach Tower, the resort’s first tower that also provides the most tranquil setting, offers tropical ambience, abundant flowers and greenery, and a huge skylight over the lobby. The Beach Towers contains Club Rush teen center, Joker’s Wild Comedy Club, Voyagers restaurant and a theater where complimentary movies are screened. Adjacent to the tower are the Lazy River Ride, River Pool and Poseidon’s Kid’s Pool. Also adjacent are the marine life exhibits Hibiscus Lagoon, Seagrapes Lagoon and viewing tunnel, and Stingray Lagoon. Close by are Goombay Water Slide & Baths, a long slide and a series of spas cut into an artificial rock formation. Wireless Internet access is available for a fee throughout the lobby and pool areas.

Guestrooms. The hotel offers 423 guestrooms, all with furnished balconies. Each room features tropical décor, pale peach walls, light colored furniture, and blue and gold fabrics with a seashell motif. These rooms have the closest access to the beach.

Expert Tip. Convenience is key at the Atlantis resort, where Beach Tower guests can register at the Coral Towers lobby.

Beautiful!

"I went to the Atlantis back in 2000. It’s awesome to look at as well as to to visit. There you’ll find out of the ordinary. If you are visiting the island and can stay anywhere, this is the place to stay. The casino is lots of fun, absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed the food while we stayed there as well."

Expensive food...but great locations

"Atlantis offers you everything at your fingertips – great beaches and bars, decent casino, terrific waterslides, oceana, and huge pools. The food is pricey, so buy a meal plan and save."

The best place in the world

Reviewed by arpie on August 30, 2006

arpie's rating:

"This is the ulitimate vacation. You never have to leave your hotel. It’s perfect for the family or a girls only trip. My 10 year old would say it’s his favorite. The restaurants are great – the Marketplace buffet is where we liked to dine at night – very kid friendly but great adult choices. The pools are amazing. Be prepared to walk but it’s worth it."

Atlantis Paradise Island

Reviewed by shopgirl on July 27, 2006

shopgirl's rating:

"We have visited Atlantis Paradise Island twice, and stayed in the Royal Towers concierge level both times. The resort and pools are stunning. The rooms-nothing special, but you’re not there to stay in the room anyway. We ate on property and found it to be expensive, but surroundings are beautiful. The reason I rate this a “90” and not higher was the service. We found the service very lackluster, the only exception being the concierge staff which were terrific. If we go back to Paradise Island, we would stay at the One & Only Ocean Club."

Atlantis--True Paradise

Reviewed by TravelQueen on June 23, 2006

TravelQueen's rating:

"This resort is amazing. You will never want to leave. The pools and waterfalls are a true paradise. There are water slides and bridges for the children to enjoy and cabanas for the adults. The restaurants are pricey but good. The marine life and aquariums are better than any I have ever seen. They have ruins that run underneath the resort with thousands of aquariums for everyone to view. I will definitely go back."
