This place was great!!
We were traveling with a group of 7 families for a paintball tournament at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds June 29-Jul 1, 2007. Since the area surrounding the fairgrounds were not up to our standards, I ran across Homewood Suites. We got a King Suite with a fireplace for $99/per night. The room was huge and with a kitchen that had an apartment size fridge, 2 burner stove, dishwasher, sink , and all cooking and eating utensils. Everything was impeccably clean. I know this isn't a new hotel, but it sure seemed like it. It was also very quiet. It is only a mile from the airport (they also offer a free shuttle) but I only heard one plane. In addition to the rooms being sort of like apartments, there was a swimming pool, hot tub, basketball court, picnic benches, exercise room and meeting rooms. The staff even offered a meeting room to us if we wanted to all have dinner together!
The staff upon check-in were very friendly and efficient. The morning breakfast was incredible. Again, the staff was great. They helped us Moms package up breakfasts "to go" for the boys. They offered omlettes, sausage, croissants, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, cereals, waffles, juice, coffee, milk. And on Mon-Thur they even offer a light dinner--this Monday was ribs, vegetables and potato soup!
Notes-The rooms with the fireplaces are much bigger than the other rooms, and in our case, were the same price.
This hotel allows pets, with an additional deposit.
This hotel does not charge for parking--something you should take into consideration when staying in San Jose.
There is a shopping list in each room that you can fill out and drop it off at the front desk in the morning. They will go out and purchase what you've requested, take it to your room and just charge the cost to your room.
I just really can't say enough about this hotel, it was wonderful. The first morning the Moms were in the lobby discussing how to get from the hotel to the Fairgrounds and one of the staff went and pulled it up on Mapquest and printed it out for us. My husband and I joked about living there. What can you find in the heart of the Silicon Valley for $3000 a month that gives you all that, LOL??!!
