As if two theme parks aren’t enough, Disneyland Resort also includes the Downtown Disney District, a shopping, dining and entertainment complex. There’s no admission charge for this destination, and if you’re inside one of the parks and just want a lunch break or deluxe souvenir shopping, you can hop on the monorail to take you there and back again. Grab pizza or pretzels, or enjoy L.A.’s favorite La Brea Bakery for sandwiches and desserts. There are crowd pleasers such as the Rainforest Café and Tortilla Jo’s, or tapas to be tried at Catal. For a real treat, sit down at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen, the renowned family of restaurateurs’ recreation of old New Orleans with blackened fish, gumbo and a kids’ menu. You can lose track of time at the ESPN Zone with rock climbing, Hoops Hysteria and interactive gaming galore. You’ll encounter live music at every turn, and you can slip inside House of Blues for the Gospel Brunch. Shoppers will adore the LEGO Imagination Center with its twenty-three foot LEGO giraffe, the girly-girl Club Libby Lu or the cutesy-baby headquarters Anne Geddes. But the big boy in the Downtown Disney District is the World Of Disney Store, a gigantic, eye-boggling emporium filled with irresistible toys, clothes, collectables and tchotchkes.

Nice food and shopping paradise

"3 hours free parking and a nice stroll from the Disneyland and California Adventure. There is a huge disney store and lego store for the young. As for the adult, they can go to ESPN sports zone for fun. To relax your feet after spending the walking and lining up for attarction in the disneyland park and California Adventure, you can relax inside the AMC theatre for movie."

What a Happenin' Place!

am-van's rating:

"Downtown Disney is the place to be for a night on the town. There are numerous specialty shops and restaurants that line Downtown Disney. It’s almost as crowded as Disneyland is on a busy summer day. But it’s a neat atmosphere. The kids love all of the Disney shops that sell Disney goods and the adults love all of the nightlife hot spots. The Lego Store is pretty cool. Lots of cool Lego creations to see. And they even have a movie theater. But beware: everything is very expensive here. Anything you buy here can be purchased much cheaper anywhere else. (Except for maybe the Disney branded things.) My favorite part of Downtown Disney is probably the street performers. There are some pretty talented musicians that perform there. It’s a fun night on the town after the parks are closed."

"Downtown Disney is a recent location; I definitely don’t remember it being there say 15 years ago. Its an area just outside of Disneyland’s entrance where there are some stores and restaurants. I do know there is also an ESPN Zone and a House of Blues."
