Summary of Rodeo Drive
Rodeo Drive
Rodeo Dr. between Wilshire and Little Santa Monica Blvd.
Beverly Hills, CA 90210
Every fashionista worth her Manolos knows the famous shopping mecca Rodeo Drive. Beverly Hills claims to be the sister city to Cannes, France, and it takes this self-description to extremes on Rodeo. The street, beginning at Wilshire Boulevard, is set up to resemble a small, old European lane, complete with cobblestones and façades, but it resembles nothing so much as a film set. Its reputation is so formidable it may surprise you to learn the stores on Rodeo Drive only encompass three blocks, but these three blocks are packed with powerful fashion houses. Ralph Lauren, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Armani, Versace and Gucci provide exquisite window-shopping and fodder for wish-lists. Cartier’s and Harry Winston’s glittering jewelry will attract your eye and hurt your pocketbook, so you may opt for Tiffany & Co’s, which is surprisingly affordable, relatively speaking. There aren’t many restaurants on Rodeo Drive, but that may be a good thing – five-star sushi restaurant Urasawa (headed by previous occupant Ginza Sushi-ko’s sous chef Hiroyuki “Hiro” Urasawa) costs $250 a person. In stark contrast, the parking near Rodeo Drive is free for two hours in the underground facilities nearby. Tourists flock here on the weekends, so for some peaceful strolling, go on a weekday evening.
