"I have worked in the travel industry for over 15 years and I do my homework before choosing a travel destination. I do recommend this property. I traveled with my 16 year old and we stayed three nights and four days just this past week. The hotel staff from front desk to housekeeping was very generous with their help and professional treatment of my daughter and me. I hurt my back a few weeks ago and I didn’t want to take a non-smoking room because it was on the second level of the hotel. The front desk clerk insisted that I not inconvenience myself by taking a smoking room and said he would personally take all my luggage up the stairs for me (unfortunately there is no elevator on property), which he did. The room was decorated in soft colors, green, orange hues and white. The bathroom had been freshly painted…paint was still a bit damp, but didn’t interfere with our stay. It was small but I loved the European style shower rack…rounded in the middle and hung just outside the tub which gave the illusion of more space…very clever.
There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room….this is always a plus with my family…we like to shop or order take out and stock our own items to eat and drink. Plenty of drawer space for our things…I always unpack and place everything in the drawers…..just my thing to do. The iron and ironing board were also a plus….I forgot my iron.
The pool was very pretty even though we did not go in….time didn’t permit…I did take a picture of it….beautiful at night.
Our room was quiet and had a great view of the residental old world styled apartments…I even took a picture of the Roosevelt Hotel sign from my room at night. We were so close to the Hollywood walk of fame, we could have walked if we had wanted. I rented a car and it was only five minutes from our hotel…just off Hawthorn and La Brea.
The Continental breakfast was very nice and I think well planned by management. They offered pretty much what a traveler might want for a quick nice meal…rolls, cereal, fruit, fresh milk and juices, everything fresh…I am now a big fan of the Cinnabons that they served.
The only issue I had was with parking….the underground garage was a bit hard to get your vehicle out of. Driving in was ok but getting out required a bit of maneuvering. You could damage your car if not careful. There was parking outside the rooms on the North side of the hotel but you had to be careful pulling into the c-shape driveway…there were trees blocking part of the drive on the curb.
I do recommend this property, it is close to everything, Burger King next door to the hotel, Ross Department Store one block away on Sunset, IHOP one block east on Sunset, even Hollywood Athletic club on the corner. It was fun watching the people work out from my balcony.
I do plan to use them again when I travel again to LA…which I try to do at least two times a year.
