Important Hotel Information:

Any tabloid worth its marbles lately has been hailing the hotel that brings in a mountain of Tinsletown gossip. The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is the place for celebutantes and starlets to see and be seen, much thanks to the hotel’s hot spot, the poolside Tropicana Bar. Venture out to the pool for a cocktail and catch a glimpse of Lindsay Lohan sunbathing or Paris Hilton ignoring ex-BFF Nicole Richie. When you’re ready to rest your sleepy head (partying like a pop tart will really take it out of ya) you’ll melt into down-filled duvets and Frette bed linens. The guest rooms are modern and stylish, and if you really want to live it up like a Hollywood diva, book one of the cabana rooms that sit around the pool. The Roosevelt is a mecca for Hollywood’s young and beautiful at the moment, but it used to cater to an even more glamourous crowd: Greta Garbo and Charlie Chaplin were at its grand opening in 1927, Clark Gable and Carole Lombard stayed in the penthouse, and Marilyn Monroe often stayed in cabana 246, and you just can’t get much more Hollywood glamour than that. It’s been restored to its ‘20s grandeur with its Spanish-tiled floors and hand-painted wooden-beamed ceiling in the lobby. You can’t live on cocktails alone, even if the celebs by the pool speak to the contrary, so head to Theodore’s Restaurant for some contemporary American fare such as sautéed Nantucket Bay scallops or prime rib with green apple horseradish. If you’re looking for a significant Hollywood hotel, the Roosevelt is for you. But keep your eyes peeled – some say it’s haunted by the ghosts of stars past.

Overrated

jestsetash's rating:

"The rooms are sub-par (all of them look tired and a bit worn). The staff is pretty weak from my experience- I expected much better service. The pool is nice and the bar is a hopping spot. The prices are extremely high for what you get. Location is good if you want to be in the heart of Hollywood. The views from the tower rooms are pretty cool (you can see the theater from some rooms and post premier parties). Bottom line- a decent place to hang out, but I wouldn't waste my money staying there. "

Hollywood Hotel

rob's rating:

"I was surprised how accessible this Hollywood hotel was given its celebrity reputation. I didn’t see any celebrities while I was there but I did see some wannabee stars out by the pool-strutting, posing, taking ridiculously pensive drags on cigarettes. Room was sleek and modern, which I like. This hotel is beautiful. Run by Thompson hotels, a five star accommodation for sure. There were two safes in my room, though. Raises questions."
