A "family-owned hot dog stand since 1939," the bright (pink) sign at Pink’s has served as a beacon lighthouse to night owls wandering the streets of Los Angeles for several generations. Though you’ll almost always see a line outside Pink’s at 1 a.m. (and 2 a.m., and 3 a.m….), it’s not just night owls who feel the urge to chow down on what is essentially a glorified chilidog. Day or night, the place is always packed.  You may lose a half hour of your life waiting for supposed fast-food nirvana, but it’ll be worth it – if not for the food, for the total experience. The truth is, Pink’s is a landmark, and it brings people together. A Los Angeles native is a rare thing. Most inhabitants of the city are transplanted East Coasters and Midwesterners, and Pink’s knows this. That’s why they serve authentic hometown favorites such as Chicago Polish Dogs, New York Dogs, Long Island Dogs, and Brooklyn Pastrami. The menu isn’t limited to hotdogs, either. Any fast food you crave is probably available here, from chicken fajitas and nachos to double bacon cheeseburgers, grilled onions, and tamales. The closest thing to an L.A. Dog? You guessed it: the Guacamole Dog.

BEST CHILI DOGS EVER

"I went to Pinks to see a celebrity but didn't get to. I went twice - once during for lunch and again in the late afternoon. Wasn't disappointed though because they have the best chili dogs ever."

Seriously terrible hot dogs and a 2-hour wait.

"I went to Pink's Hot Dogs since I love hot dogs and have heard a bunch of hype about Pink's. I figured the hot dogs must be good, and decided to wait in the long line... which ended up taking about 2 hours. Finally, we got some hot dogs, and I tried two different kinds, both of which were terrible. I'd honestly say below average. Seriously, the hot dogs at Costco and Home Depot are MUCH better, and I will NEVER eat at Pink's again."

"Now I’ve only been here once and have only tried one hot dog. But to me it kind of seem over-rated. Now maybe I didn’t have the right dog, but its hard to choose when theres so many kinds with so many different names. I think I even remember seeing a Lord of the Ring hotdog, what the heck is that?"

Pink's Hot Dogs review

Reviewed by family on December 05, 2005

family's rating:

"This famous hot dog stand was a must on my list, and I knew the girls and Mike wouldn’t argue with hot dogs for lunch. I was warned about the long lines, and for good reason. We waited for about 25 minutes, but I must say, it was worth it. Mike couldn’t get enough of the Chicago Polish Dog – it reminded him of his usual lunch stop when he lived in Chicago. I had to remind him that he was 10 pounds heavier when that was his regular diet. The Swiss Cheese Dog was enough to satisfy both the girls, but I recommend the bacon chili cheese dog. It was delicious!"
