"I love going to the capitol! The building is absolutely gorgeous, inside and outside. There is a huge park around the building, filled with trees and flowers. It’s perfect for a picnic. Inside, the decorations are amazing. There are mosaics on the floors, beautiful paintings on the walls, a great statue in the entryway (of Christoffer Columbus and Queen Isabella, if I’m not mistaken… although I can’t remember why that would be there!), and the dome is decorated beautifully. The rooms for the state senate and legislature gather are fun to see, although they’ve been closed the last few times I’ve been there. During the week, when they’re in session, you can creep in and sit in an upper balcony and watch them vote on bills and all kind of important governmental stuff! There are few rooms that are preserved from earlier times, so you can see what the offices used to look like. Last time there was an exhibit of some beautiful books from the state library, but I think that was temporary. There are also dioramas made by each of the counties in California (I think there are 52!), which is fun. It’s neat to see how different parts of the state are from each other, and what they’re famous for. The tour is worth going on, to learn more about the history. I think this is a beautiful building, and a great way to learn more about California’s government! & you just might see Arnie while you’re there!"
