"Anyone who grew up within about an hour radius has been to Sutter’s Fort at least once on a school fieldtrip! If you haven’t been, it’s interesting to learn about California’s history here. Sutter’s Fort isn’t that big, and it’s not very fancy, but it’s still really informative and interesting. You learn about the life of Mr. Sutter, how life in the fort was, the life of Native Americans in the area, and about how California developed. The Indian Museum is right behind Sutter’s Fort, so you can do both in one fell swoop. On the weekends, there are often demonstrations of life in the olden days. When I was little, I got to make candles by dipping the wicks in wax over and over. Fun!"
