Visually stunning with panoramic views to match, 18-acre PETCO Park features an asymmetrical playing field and a natural stone and stucco exterior. The team store is housed in the remodeled circa-century-old Western Metal Supply Company building. More than 42,000 fans can be accommodated in amphitheater bleachers, dugout seats, right-field porch, club levels, and party suites. Beyond the outfield fence, the “Park at the Park” offers a grassy playground for your kids. Not merely a ballpark, PETCO hosts big-name music acts, such as the Rolling Stones. Seven lounges and restaurants offer de rigueur hot dogs and beer, as well as more gourmet fare. Parking is available, but it’s easy to get here via public transportation. The surrounding neighborhood, called the Ballpark District, boasts 26 blocks of hotels, restaurants, office, retail space and urban residences.

Fun, even for non-fans!

"I don’t really like baseball that much, but I went to a game or two with my old co-workers. It’s a nice stadium, and it’s fun to go with a bunch of friends, as long as most of them aren’t too interested in the game, either! We had a great time eating the big hotdogs and drinking beer, and heckling the players! The stadium is really nice and new, although it’s huge and easy to get lost if you aren’t careful! & there was still a long line for the women’s restrooms, which you think they could have rectified when they built a new stadium! Parking is also a major pain in the butt, and it can take forever to get to and from the stadium, too. Especially getting there, since the games usually start at times when traffic is already bad getting to downtown."

Nice stadium

"I had my doubts about the Padres moving from Qualcomm Stadium (it will always be Jack Murphy Stadium to me) to Petco Park. First off, the name. Yeah, yeah, sponsers and all that. But really? Second, the parking. Parking in downtown San Diego is already a nightmare. And with the addition of the ballpark, it still is. Unless you want to pay upwards of $10.00 for closer parking, you’ll be hiking quite a ways. But it is a really nice ballpark. It is in a really nice location. I guess I’ve ended up liking it a lot. So I’ll forgive them the name and go enjoy a good ball game and a $5.00 hotdog every now and then."
