Completely renovated in 1997, this elegant outdoor mall is your best stop for serious shopping in San Diego. Less tourist-like than the flamboyant and exciting Horton Plaza, this mall is much easier to navigate. It is the main hub for upscale and designer shopping. Exclusive names like Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue are among the department stores. With 200 stores, seven restaurants, a food court and a movie theatre, even the most discriminating shoppers will find what they are looking for, including foreign currency exchange.

A great place to go on the weekend

"Although this may be the busiest time to go to a mall, this is when it’s most exciting and there are alot of sales to be found. I really like Hickory Farms store because they always have such delicious cheeses, and crackers. Next, is the fossil store. Not only do they have really nice watches, I can often find a handbag that goes with an outfit that I bought to bring back home. The Wine Enthusiast Companion is a great place to go for your wine needs, and you can get good ideas for future outdoor or indoor wine gatherings. Whatever stores you like to shop at, or browse here, this is a wonderful, exciting place to go! There’s never a dull moment in this mall."

Great mall

"I think this is the best mall in San Diego. I’m too poor to shop at a lot of the stores, but it’s great where there are sales, or just to browse! It’s a popular hangout with San Diego teenagers (I got very excited that I had been there when it was featured in an episode of “My Super Sweet 16” on MTV! Not that I watch that show… ahem.). It does get crowded on the weekends and evenings, and even though there’s what seems like endless parking, it can be hard to find a spot. There are usually waits for the restaurants then, too- sometimes over an hour at Cheesecake factory! But sometimes, you just want to go to the mall, and in that case, Fashion Valley is your best bet in SD!"

Busy Mall

am-van's rating:

"This mall is one of the busiest in San Diego, especially during the holidays, but it’s still one of my favorites. I love the outdoor aspect of this mall. It’s perfect for a nice sunny day. I usually just get to the Nordstrom (west) end of the mall. That’s where Old Navy, Gymboree, Crate and Barrel, and Godiva are. What more do I need? Except for maybe the Cheesecake Factory. Oh, or PF Chang’s. Or the Container Store. Or…."
