"The first IKEA I ever went to was this one in San Diego, so I have fond memories of it! It’s crowded on the weekends, like all Ikeas, but still really fun. I love looking at the rooms they’ve designed in the store to get ideas, and I love the cheap bedding and kitchen sections. I don’t actually think their furniture is all that cheap, for the most part, and the cheaper stuff is sometimes not very good quality. There are cheaper options out there, especially for second-hand furniture that will probably be better quality than Ikea stuff. But a lot of the stuff does have a fun design, and that’s where Ikea excels- offering nicely-designed things for cheaper prices. You won’t be unusual- millions of people around the world shop at Ikea, so a lot of people will know exactly where you bought your furniture! I speak Swedish, so I get a little giddy when I get to practice reading the names of stuff- a lot of them actually mean something! And one time when I went to the San Diego store, Ingmar Kamprad, the founder (and the “IK” in IKEA!) was there! How cool would it be to meet him?!"
