Ikea!

"The first IKEA I ever went to was this one in San Diego, so I have fond memories of it! It’s crowded on the weekends, like all Ikeas, but still really fun. I love looking at the rooms they’ve designed in the store to get ideas, and I love the cheap bedding and kitchen sections. I don’t actually think their furniture is all that cheap, for the most part, and the cheaper stuff is sometimes not very good quality. There are cheaper options out there, especially for second-hand furniture that will probably be better quality than Ikea stuff. But a lot of the stuff does have a fun design, and that’s where Ikea excels- offering nicely-designed things for cheaper prices. You won’t be unusual- millions of people around the world shop at Ikea, so a lot of people will know exactly where you bought your furniture! I speak Swedish, so I get a little giddy when I get to practice reading the names of stuff- a lot of them actually mean something! And one time when I went to the San Diego store, Ingmar Kamprad, the founder (and the “IK” in IKEA!) was there! How cool would it be to meet him?!"

Swedish Furniture!

"Ikea’s prescence really is around the world; I remember seeing one in France. The furniture there is really cheap and while some might question the quality, I’ve never had a problem with it. You do have to put the furniture together yourself, but I enjoy putting things together so its not a problem for me."

Very Scandinavian

"Some people love IKEA; some people hate it. I love it. My Finnish mother-in-law claims she feels like she’s gone home when she steps into IKEA. I like the look of the furniture. I have one whole living room wall dedicated to IKEA bookshelves. I can always find something I love for my home here. I could spend hours in IKEA, and I have. I also love the restaurant. Swedish meatballs and lingonberry soda are my favorites. And the Food Market is great. I can’t go to IKEA and not get the yummies from the Food Market. Love the lingonberry sauce, the chocolate bars, and the frozen Swedish meatballs. And they even have a free play area for the kids. Sign them in for an hour and enjoy a kid-free shopping experience. Shopping here is a very good thing."
