Take a leisurely walk (10 minutes) from the Gaslamp Quarter or Horton Plaza and escape the madness of the city for awhile. Stroll down miles of cobblestone paths taking in the greenery, ponds and fountains as you make your way around 75 specialty shops, 13 eateries and four full-service restaurants. Unsurpassed views of the bay, its ships and the San Diego-Coronado Bridge surround the park. Complete with a carousel dating from the 1890s, this is a sight you will not want to miss.

Nice place, good views, cheap eating options

Reviewed by NOLAgirl on May 30, 2007

NOLAgirl's rating:

"We visited here in September, 2006. It's a nice area to walk around and shop in the very touristy shops. There's no real culture here (like most of San Diego) but it was very pretty and pleasant (like most of San Diego). There is a good variety of little places to eat, and it's easy to go with a group because everyone can get what they want to eat, and then meet up again at the shared tables in the center of the food court area. The views of the bay were very nice, especially at sunset. Easy and safe to walk to."

Nice place for dinner and an evening stroll

"This is a nice area to walk around in the evenings. You can watch the sunset, have a nice view of Coronado, browse at the shops (most of them are tacky touristy shops, but some are okay!), and have dinner. A cute area, and it’s right near downtown, so you can walk here. It’s nice to be on the water in the evening. It wasn’t too crowded when I was there last year, either, but I’m not sure if that’s normal or not, since I’ve only been there once!"

Great little place

"Seaport Village is great. The little shops are very cute and sell everything from candy to wooden toys to sculpture. I love wandering in and around all of the shops just taking it all in. I especially love the Wyland Gallery. I make a mental wish list every time I’m there. After I’m done with my browsing or shopping, I like to visit Ben and Jerry’s for a delicious ice cream cone. My kids absolutely love riding the carousel, and I enjoy watching their enthusiasm for it. After that, I like to wander down by the harbor and look at the boats docked there. Just across the water the Coronado Bridge is visible. The sight is lovely, and the ambiance is fantastic. On the downside, the parking isn’t very good. And you have to be validated unless you want to pay full price for parking. Aside from that, everything about Seaport Village is great."
