The Westin St. Francis is the last survivor of turn-of-the-century San Francisco. This historic icon, dating back to 1904, was named to Conde Nast Travelers’ Gold List. Guests will find a cable car stop right outside the door. From there it’s only a short ride on the creaking tracks to Fisherman’s Wharf, North Beach, and Chinatown, or you can simply shop until you drop in Union Square’s high-end boutiques and department stores. The magnificent lobby of the hotel awes guests with marble columns, gilded ceilings, and crystal chandeliers. The hotel is also home to the famed Compass Rose lounge, where theatergoers and bon vivants began meeting 100 years ago “under the clock” for drinks. Even today, locals, vacationers, theatergoers, and bon vivants still meet there before journeying out to the city. In addition, theatergoers take advantage of the hotel’s pre-theater, prix fixe menu served in the clubby Oak Room, a perfect start to the evening. Guests rooms include the Westin’s patented Heavenly Beds of foot-thick pillowtop mattresses, down comforters, fancy duvets, and enough pillows for a pillow fight before a perfect night’s sleep. Rooms in the tower come complete with the Heavenly Baths, consisting of dual showerheads with multiple spray options, velour bathrobes, oversized Brazilian combed-cotton bath sheets, and spa bath products. The Westin’s décor, featuring beautiful chandeliers, ornate woodwork, period-style furniture, and elaborate drapes, completes the elegant ambiance. For vacationers traveling to San Francisco for shopping or business, or just to take in the attractions, the Westin St. Francis offers luxurious accommodations in a prime location. Don’t forget to ride to the top of the hotel in one of the glass elevators, which give the perfect view of San Francisco 32 floors up.
