"I was psyched to go here... and maybe my visit was ruined by the flower exhibit that seemed to bring every women over 40 to the museum... We went on a Wendesday, thinking that there would be less people... no such luck, I guess we went during thier busiest week. It was OK. The collection of Eastern masks, shields, etc was MUCH more interesting than the western paintings... The Minneapolis Institute of Art in Minneapolis has a much better collection of art- and its free!!! We paid $15 to get into de Young- not worth it!"

"Ha, I was going to say the same thing as sassylaurie- it was nice before they renovated it, too! I remember when I went to see a Monet exhibit there, years ago… it was beautiful! The building itself is really interesting now, too. This is a big museum, with a really solid permament collection, and great visitng exhibitions. It’s one of the best art museums in the country! Plus it’s in beautiful Golden Gate park, with lots of other fun stuff to do. You can make a day of it there, and this should definitely be included."

"Pituring being just a chid, and going to see not only King tuts tomb, but the tomb Pharoahs, and other such Egyptian lore. We walked literally through rooms of Egyptian mummifications, and wonderous artifacts. Today it’s still aworld renowned musum and hosts the Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron and Fong & Chan Architects in San Francisco. It even got a much needed new facelift, not too far away from the original museum. With all this innovation, new exhibits were able to be put on display. and even more spectacular history an be brought to our attention. If you are visiting San Francisco anytime soon, definately come take a peak at this vacinity, and all it’s newfound glory."
