A penny for your thoughts? In addition to a melange of penny structures, this quirky, offbeat museum which had originally resided beneath the Cliff House at Pt. Lobos, has a variety of interesting gadgets and knick-knacks. A must-see is the toothpick amusement park, built by San Quentin inmates. Bring a handful of quarters so you can play some of the games, including the miniature antique pinball machines. Visiting the museum is free of charge. Cash only.

Super cool!

"This museum is great! I only wished they hadn’t converted the old machines from pennies and nickles to quarters! It gets expensive after awhile, because I wanted to try all the machines! Next time I need to sneak behind somebody rich looking, and just peak over their shoulder as they put in money! This is a really great collection of machines. It’s cool to see some of the weirder ones. My favorites were the photo booth and penny squashing machines, even though they aren’t that unusual! But the musical ones and fortune-telling ones are great, too. Oooh, and the ones where you can watch the old movies! This is definitely a must-see if you’re at Fisherman’s Wharf/Pier 39!"

Lots of fun

"I loved this museum- an interactive look at a world before video games. Bring plenty of cash (they have change machines available) to play with the “fortune tellers” and arcade games of yore. We spent a good portion of the afternoon here and had lots of fun. Right off of pier 45."
