Exploratorium captures the imagination of kids and adults alike. This scienc museum, located in the Marina District, has more than 650 permanent exhibitions. You can learn about how the weather in space affects us here on Earth, discover where languages come from, or investigate the science behind your favorite sport. The Tactile Dome sends you into total darkness, where your tense of touch becomes your guide; on the flip side of that, you can learn more about your eyes and how they work by watching as the Exploratorium’s Explainers (staff members) dissect cows eyes (not for the feint of heart –or stomach).

"It’s kind of geared to kids and all, but I would enjoy it more if they had adults-only days! I think the place is awesome, but the kids got all testy and said I was hogging the exhibits! This is such a fun science museum, with all the interactive exhibits. It’s great! I loved it when I was a kid, and I still love it today! I’ve been to a few of the same type of museum in different countries, but the Exploratorium is by far the best one!"

"I went to the Exploratorium on one trip to foggy San Francisco. Now I may not be a kid or have any kids, but being inside of the Exploratorium I felt like I could feel like a kid thats fascinated about learning new and exciting things. Its a very hands on interactive museum, so that helps on the fun factor. It’s always fun to play with weird and cool science things!"

What happens in space does effect our weather...

"Let me paint you a picture. After this large dome leads you into total darkness, your ears soon become your senses, and they start working overtime to hear the moderator tell you what’s in store for you. I remember hearing about how the weather in space effects us, discovering where language came from, but quite frankly, I did not hear anyone speak of dissecting cow’s eyes? I don’t rememebr if that’s something they added, or I was dosing off when I learned that, but if you come on out soon, I am sure they will include that little tidbit in their repertoire. That is quite interesting how what happens in the world up above us often effects our weather here at home. We have such strange weather at times, you’ve got to wonder, and I’m glad they paint the weather picture for us at the San Francisco Exploratorium. It is a pretty cool place. If I was visitng SF for the first time, I would want to see it. You definatley learn a lot."
