Named after the main road that winds through the Southern Italian region of Campania, A-16 stays true to its culinary roots with a menu of authentic Southern Italian fare. Executive chef Christophe Hille even trained in Naples to become a certified pizzaiolo, and his much-heralded pies arrive with a traditionally thin, blistered crust. Pair your meal with a glass from the spectacular wine list (which focuses on Southern Italian varietals) and you’ve hit culinary nirvana. Reservations are recommended, but if you come with a small group, you’ll be able to snag a few seats the bar. On warm days, the charming back patio makes for fabulous alfresco dining.

haonusa's rating:

"This is easily one of my favorites Italian places in the city. Its hard to get into so make reservations at least two weeks in advance. The wien list is killer. Not because its got volumes of collectibles wines. Its because of the obvious love and dedication that was poured into it. It is heavy on out of the way gems from Campania. It’s a discovery. The pastas come in small and large sizes. One word of advice order the large. Also try to order some things from each course. All are wonderful. Pizzas are suberply done. Antipasta also money."

"A16 was rockin’ when we ate there. we had to do the whole reservation & wait a few weeks thing, which is difficult when you want to go NOW. the ambiance…as long as you don’t have to sit by the bar…is killer. i loved the large open kitchen in the middle of everything. as for the food, we wanted to try one of each course. among the stand outs was the funghi pizza. so many wonderful mushrooms. the homemade pasta with red sauce was beautifully simple and extremely flavorful. we also sampled the fennel salami, handmade by the chef. so good. so fun. i look forward to going back to A16."
