Summary of Foreign Cinema
What better way to spend an evening in San Francisco than at Foreign Cinema? Tucked in to the uber-trendy Mission district, this is a sure bet for the perfect Friday night date. Order a bottle of wine at the connecting Laszlo bar and have dinner in the courtyard while foreign films are projected on the wall above. The California Mediterranean small plates are served up simple and fresh by husband and wife team John Clark and Gayle Pirie. The beef capriccio and curried chicken with fresh gremolata are a must. The pasta is house made and dressed simply with light ingredients, and the oysters are served icy cold on the half shell, just in case you get the urge. Once that bottle of wine has warmed you up, snag a seat around the gigantic central fireplace. Sitting fireside under the stars with a French film in the background is just about as romantic as it can get.
