Summary of Pancho Villa Taqueria
This legendary Mission taqueria – the original location of what’s now a Bay Area burrito mini-empire – attracts Mission bar hoppers, tourists and families looking for a quick bite. A perpetually long line winds in front of the counter and sometimes even out the door, but fast, efficient service means the queue moves briskly. The no-frills dining room, filled with simple tables and chairs, offers plenty of seats. Quesadillas and tacos get raves, but you’d be remiss if you didn’t sample that Mission classic, the burrito. Choose from charbroiled steak, roast pork, broiled chicken, beef tongue or marinated tofu, and get that baby rolled up with rice, salsa, beans and veggies. With prices hovering around $5 for these so-fat-they’re-about-to-burst burritos, you’ll easily get two meals out of your order. Branch out and try a horchata (a traditional cinnamon rice bev) or stick to fruity Mexican sodas or bottled beer.
