this is pizza

"other than having to always wait for a seat and freeze my butt off in the meantime, this place is perfection. (and the glass of red wine while you wait can take the chill off). i LOVE the ambiance. bustling, cozy, hip, simple, warm. i love their antipasta. stellar ingredients allowed to be themselves in simple, yummy preparation. and then there’s the pie. ohhh…i loved the wood fired thin crust that’s blistery and chewy with bits of charred spots. the clam pizza and margarita are my favorites. order at least one pizza with the red sauce."

"So I just wrote a review of Pizzeria delfina which got me thinking about it. Next thing I know I’m back there. Never mind that I was by myself tonight. I had to have it. The broccoli ciccio rocks! First of all I have never seen broccoli like this. Its tall and very skinny. Not stalky at all. this antipasta is prepared with olive oil, house cured anchovies, capers, and hot peppers. DELICIOUS!!! Next I had a margherita but decided to kick in up a notch with house cured peperoni. Folks, I have a new favorite. So I am stuffed but this meyer lemon crostata keeps looking at me and I’m like, “look, I’m full. No need to eat any more.” I couldn’t resist and I’m glad I didn’t. Rich but smoothly tart with a big scoop of creme next to it. Hard to say where is ranks with their out of this world cannoli and my previous favorite chocalate hazelnut torte. Definitely in the same league. Delfina is da bomb."

haonusa

nearly perfect pizza

"My test for whether a place can make a good Italian style pizza is in the simplest pizza of all, the margherita. The crust must be blistery hot. The toppings should be adequate but not over the top. The most common mistake is too much cheese. the tomato, cheese, and a touch of basil should all be in balance. The crust crunchy but not overdone. Pizzeria Delfina Can rock the margherita. Fortunately that’s just where things start. Their antipasta are nearly all awesome. They usually have a few special antipasta and pizzas each day. Their wine list contains about ten great value, under the radar italians at a great price. The place is tiny and uber-buzy but the service is a thing of beauty. Servers are humming but always friendly and efficient. One of my favorites in San Francisco. I’ve lived here one month and eaten at Pizzeria Delfina 4 times already. HIGHLY Recommended."
