This is the San Francisco equivalent of a greasy spoon. Pork Store Café takes its name from its original status in 1916 as a butcher shop. You’ll be hard pressed to find ol’ Sam behind the counter, but what you will find is the cure for last night’s binge drinking. There’s nothing like the house special, two pork chops, eggs, biscuits, and hash browns overflowing off your plate, served up with a hot cuppa caffeine. You’ll be back to your old self in no time. Be patient, there is always a line for these dinky digs, which occupy only a small slice of Haight. Sleepy-eyed hippies, clubbers, and yuppies are all waiting outside the door to score a table or barstool amid the quirky, mismatched decor. Come in the afternoon for some finger licking good fried chicken sans the line. The only reason you know you’re still in Cali is the obligatory vegan tofu scramble.

the "Poke Sto"

"i was introduced to the ‘Pork Store’ early in my travels, during the DotCom boom of the 90’s. The place is insanely good, and greasy. it make no apologies about it’s appearance, coffee or service, I guess that’s the appeal of it, down home cooking with attitude. At first you may get your dander up about the seemingly bad-service, but once you eat, you forget all the little things, and beg for MORE!"

Pork Store Cafe review

"Pork Store Café is one of my favorite breakfast places in San Francisco. Located on Haight Street, the Pork Store proves that hangovers can be cured with caffeine and grease. Visit this little diner on a weekend morning and you’ll find a line out the door of tired, scruffy looking folks in need of comfort food. My personal choice: scrambled eggs and grits with jack cheese. The line might be long, but it’s worth it. And go here to eat, not to lollygag; there are many other hung-over people waiting."
