Summary of Pork Store Cafe
This is the San Francisco equivalent of a greasy spoon. Pork Store Café takes its name from its original status in 1916 as a butcher shop. You’ll be hard pressed to find ol’ Sam behind the counter, but what you will find is the cure for last night’s binge drinking. There’s nothing like the house special, two pork chops, eggs, biscuits, and hash browns overflowing off your plate, served up with a hot cuppa caffeine. You’ll be back to your old self in no time. Be patient, there is always a line for these dinky digs, which occupy only a small slice of Haight. Sleepy-eyed hippies, clubbers, and yuppies are all waiting outside the door to score a table or barstool amid the quirky, mismatched decor. Come in the afternoon for some finger licking good fried chicken sans the line. The only reason you know you’re still in Cali is the obligatory vegan tofu scramble.
