"This East German restaurant is located in a sort of no man’s land between the Mission and SOMA, but it’s stellar food and laid-back atmosphere have made it a dining destination. The authentic German fare is delish, the staff is all German (and have the thick accents to prove it) and the beer list (which focuses on German brews) is fantastic. And though I decided to go for a stuffed chicken dish with spaetzle, I noticed plenty of vegetarian options, including a meatless schnitzel. The fare is pretty heavy, so I’d suggest going easy on the appetizers. Bonus: They even serve pickled herring covered in sour cream! Yum! Take some time to check out the weird, East German tchotchkes covering the walls, including some really bizarre-looking dolls."
