"Granville Island is situated under the South end of the Granville Street bridge, and is also accessible to the huge network of seawall walk/bike paths surrounding the False Creek inlet. Once an industrial hub, Granville Island is still home to a concrete plant, but now the odl warehouses and factory buildings house artisans’ studios, shops, restaurants & cafes, and markets – including the Granville Island Public Market, the Kids Only Market, and the Net Loft. On one section of Granville Island you can keep your boat at the marina, find all you need to outfit it, or just learn to sail. In another section, you’ll find a lovely community centre and kids’ water park, near the houseboat community. You can also find the famous Emily Carr Art school, theatre companies, and pubs. Take transit (bus or water taxi) as parking on the weekend can be awful, and relax. Granville Island is urban living at its richest. "
