Must see California National Parks ?
Do I have recommendations .. ?? !! ??
"Does blackened redfish say N'Orleans?"
": >
To start off .. no matter where you are in CA you MUST visit Yosemite National Park.
If you see nothing else in California, Yosemite MUST be that one thing -spot- place to see!
Yosemite, is for me the most astounding place on the continent. I've not seen it all by any stretch, but for what I have seen, it is the Ultimate.
In 1978 I attended an Ansel Adams Workshop there. Meeting Ansel, after being a major groupie fan for 25 years, was in itself a highlite! But, being in Yosemite was breathtaking; life altering. Inspirational on a scale beyond belief. You must BE, to understand.
NOTE: Yosemite does NOT have a 'down/off' season! Make your plans early and pick well.
YES .. MUST SEE for sure!
Right on Yosemite's trail are the following: My Top 10 AFTER Yosemite .. not necessarily in this order, either. ": )
1. Sequoia National .. unbelieveable!
2. Kings Canyon.. back-to-back w/Sequoia
3. Cabrillo National ... Plymouth Rock of the West Coast
4. Death Valley... it will change your life!
5. Redwoods National... insignificant takes on a whole new meaning!
6. Muir Woods
7. Point Reyes
8. Pinnacles
9. Mojave Desert... you'll never think of sand the same way again!
10. Joshua Tree ... this place penetrates the soul.
bonus: John Muir Nat'l Historic ... see where the NP all started. It was Muir who truly made it happen.
These round out my Manificent Dozen
Link to ALL CA NP's http://transcription.e24tech.com/
Many of these are within close proximity of each other. In 3 days you can see 5 of the Magnificent Dozen
One of these days, I'll revisit them all and capture them on video and film.
Do enjoy. The state of mind these magnificent natural shrines will put you in will only make the CA wines taste all that much better.
"Uhm, for sure. I gaurontee!"
": ) My lagniappe for you.

Oh .. forgot to reply to the last part of your reply to me:
1) you're in SLC once a month.. ! Why?
2) who could leave N'Orleans ? Me. Sorry, chava22, Bgeasy just isn't on my list of places to go to or see. I hate humidity and dislike all cities with a passion. I tolerate Jazz, like the cuisine, but it doesn't like me.
I know many folks do like N'Orleans, but when stacked up against PARK CITY ... Whoa dudette! NO CONTEST! ": ) Tell me how I can live in PC,UT and make a living and I'll move there LAST WEEK! ": )
Please take this in a very light-hearted, serious though, but light-hearted frame. I'm glad you love where you live. You're not moving to PC left a spot open for me... ": >>>

So, chava22 … you were a member of the food & beverage community,eh. No wonder you have an interest in wines! "; ) Yes, the South has many fine benefits, beyond warm weather. They also have some of the 'largest hospitality' in the USA as well.
So, how are your plans for the 'winery research' ??
O'fieldstream
So, I am still planning my trip to California. Turns out my husband wants to spend equal time in the national parks...I need to do some more research. I don't think we'll go until Sept. or Oct. In the meantime, I'm thinking of taking a short break in Destin, Fl to enjoy the beach. Where are your travels taking you?

chava22: The NP's are a good visit and hard to pass up. You WILL really enjoy. Sept/Oct is a great time to see the west. Temps are generally quite nice and the numbers of people will be lower. Good fishing, hiking, watersports are relatively good, but the levels are lower and whitewater is compromised a bit. But the views and photo ops are magnificent.
Travel for me? Well, finally for the first time in nearly 4 years I can get out and travel! This season I am planning trips to all a number of places in the midwest, at least 3 major trips west to Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming; with a likely entry into New Mexico, Utah, Nevada and Idaho.
My wife and I are planning on being in Alaska in October for a couple of months.
Do keep in touch.
