Summary of Ski Train
A romantic train ride through the gorgeous, snow-covered Rocky Mountains sounds like something out of a movie from the ‘40s, but you can make it a reality on Denver’s Ski Train. A postcard-perfect backdrop sets the scene for your two-hour journey from Denver’s big-city lights to Winter Park’s snow-sports paradise. For 66 years, the Ski Train has been taking skiers through the Flatirons, South Boulder Canyon, and dozens of tunnels including the Moffat Tunnel under the Continental Divide to Winter Park ski resort, where you can ski, snowboard, snowmobile, and dog-sled the day away. Summer adventures are just as memorable, as Colorado during the warm months is also beautiful, with enough wilderness and wildlife to quickly fill up your camera. Hiking, mountain biking, and lunching in the sun make for a perfect summer day in Winter Park. A few hours later, you’ll hop back on the Ski Train for more panoramic views before the train arrives back at Denver’s Union Station. If your Denver plans don’t include a stay in the mountains, the Ski Train is an excellent way to get out of town and into the Rockies.
