Oak Alley Plantation
Gorgeous... but not very informative!
Oak Alley Plantation is a must-see for all plantation lovers, but do not be fooled by its amazing exterior. Although the home is lovely on the outside, the inside is not nearly as exciting and the tour is somewhat flat. The best part about this plantation is the amazing Live Oak alley that was preserved by a former owner fighting the levee builders for them and winning - unlike the majority of the River Road plantations whom mostly lost their long oak alleys of their youth. Also here is a bed-and-breakfast, dining and a gift shop. The gift shop is fantastic and for those flyers - you can order things online to lighten the load.Reviewed on: March 05, 2007
