Important Hotel Information:

Influenced by both Italian elegance and Victorian charm, the Renaissance Mayflower has long been a favorite of Washington lobbyists, the movers and shakers of the political scene. The hotel’s salmon and seafoam-colored lobby was restored in 2004, and the in-house Cafe Promenade now serves as a networking center for political bigwigs. The Renaissance Mayflower attracts such diverse visitors as musician Wynton Marsalis and actor Kurt Russell. Guest rooms feature tones of blush, white and beige, accented with maroon and green. The carved headboards and high ceilings evoke the Federalist period, while modern lamps and sleek furniture bring the rooms’ sensibility into the modern era. The Renaissance Mayflower is in the heart of Washington’s tourist district and provides easy access to Georgetown and the White House. Inside, you can retrace the pomp and grandeur of Calvin Coolidge’s inauguration, and visit the rooms where F.D.R. composed some of his most famous war addresses.

Grand Old Hotel Offering a Grand Experience

Reviewed by tappies on February 10, 2007

tappies' rating:

"The Mayflower offers beautiful facilities, a convenient location, and top notch service, particularly during the week. My absolute favorite feature: if you dial the front desk for a wake-up call rather then using the alarm clock or automated system, you will be asked “Coffee, tea or hot chocolate?” and a tray with a pot of your beverage of choice and a newspaper will be delivered to your door within ten minutes of the wake up call.I only gave a rating of four because I have stayed at the Mayflower both during the week and on a weekend, and although the service is flawless during the week, on the weekend it wasn’t quite up to snuff. At times, it was “like amateur night in Dixie,” as my drama teacher used to say. Lost reservations, items delivered to the wrong room, doormen not holding the door, dirty towels left in the bathtub. They did make good on any problems we had, but it was very surprising to have them in the first place, since none of that went on during the week."
