Summary of Rasika

D.C. has no shortage of good Indian restaurants, but Rasika is certainly the most innovative. Chef Vikram Sunderam has created a fusion Indian-Western menu that features items as bold as masala lobster and tandoori lamb chops. The menu is so tantalizing and complete it’s hard to pass up the extensive tasting menu option, which pairs small plates with exquisite wines. The large and modern space has a décor more reminiscent of a martini bar than a traditional Indian restaurant, and consequently attracts a younger, trendy crowd who can’t get enough of the elegant setting and Sunderam’s signature spices. For special events, Rasika rents out the open kitchen, where up to 10 people can gather around and watch as the chef prepares a five-course grilled menu.
