Beautiful Day Trip

This is a beautiful state park- about 1 hour west of the Twin Cities. It is super easy to get to. The park is made up- for the most part- of hilly terrain with lots of ponds, "lakes" and other water. We went the last weekend in April, and we had no problem getting a site. They are all backpacking sites. But they are all less that 2 miles from parking. So as long as you don't feel the need to haul everything and the kitchen sink, even non-backpacking campers should be able to make it. We stayed at site 2. It's on a peninsula. We had the most beautiful view. We saw swans, other water fowl, deer, and beavers on our hike. Its a beautiful park- we will definitely be going back for a quick weekend away this summer.
