Dominica’s only beachfront hotel, Castaways Beach Hotel is a family owned hotel providing relaxing accommodations on this small Caribbean island. Offering a lush mountainous interior of rainforests, waterfalls, lakes, hot springs and more than 200 rivers, Dominica touts itself as a “non tourist destination” for divers, hikers and naturalists. The hotel is five miles from Layou Hot Springs and 11 miles from Roseau, a good spot to shop for native crafts. The Melville Hall Airport is an hour by car.
The Castaways offers 26 rooms, along with a collection of terraces, open air restaurant and bar that beckons sunset watchers. Each room has air conditioning, refrigerator, coffeemaker, offers a beach or island view. The hotel’s on site PADI dive shop, Dive Castaways, offers dive packages, certification courses, and dives along the lee side of the island. Other on site recreation options include tennis, beach volleyball, and table tennis. Whale watching, rafting, and rappelling can be arranged by the hotel.
