my gusto - Associating/Linking

What is associating/linking and why does it matter?

When you associate/link a bookmark, photo or blog entry with a product page in Gusto, you're enabling other Gusto members to see what you've added to Gusto when they look at that product page.

For example, if you have some amazing photos you took on your trip to Paris, associating/linking them with the Paris page will let other members see your photos when they look at Gusto's Paris page. Even better, you can also associate/link photos more specifically, so that someone looking at the Eiffel Tower page will be able to see your great Eiffel Tower shot. If you associate/link a photo more specifically like this, it will automatically be added to the corresponding city, state/province and country pages, as well!

If you've read a great article about visiting Chicago that you think others would enjoy, associating/linking it with Gusto's Chicago page will allow other members to easily see it. Or if you think others could benefit from your blog entry about your visit to San Francisco, be sure to associate it with Gusto's San Francisco page.

What are tags and why should I put them on my bookmark?

Tags identify common themes and allow you and others to quickly find bookmarks with related information. For example, if you're bookmarking the Avenues restaurant in the Peninsula Chicago hotel, your tags could include: Avenues, restaurant, Peninsula, Chicago, hotel.

Why can't I make my places I've been bookmarks private?

As a travel community, Gusto is all about sharing information. We understand that you might want to keep some information to yourself, which is why you can set privacy settings on your other bookmarks, as well as photos and blogs, and you can also control who is able to send you messages or leave you comments. But we like to think of places i've been bookmarks as recommendations of sorts, where you can quickly and easily store and share your experiences, and for that reason, those bookmarks are public for everyone.

What if I don't want to share my bookmarks? Can I make my bookmarks private?

Yes you can. You can limit who sees your bookmarks to just your friends or to just you. Simply go to your personal Gusto home page, then click on 'Edit your privacy settings.' In the screen that opens on the left, use the drop down menus next to places I'm going and my other interests to adjust your privacy settings accordingly, then click the blue Submit button.

I'm using someone else's computer right now. Can I easily add the Grabber and then remove it when I'm done?

You bet. To delete the Grabber, just right click on it and select "Delete" from the list of options. The Grabber does not install any software in your compter, so simply deleting the button is all you have to do!

I've added the Gusto Grabber to my toolbar, but when I try to 'grab' a page, nothing happens.

Some Web sites that use Flash can't be grabbed by the Grabber. Try clicking past the front page into the site; sometimes you can grab a page inside the site, you just can't grab the site's front page. Some sites use frames in such a way that the Grabber won't grab them; again, try clicking into the site to see if you can grab a page inside.

Do you limit the number of bookmarks I can have?

There is no limit to the number of bookmarks you can have. Gusto makes it easy to save and organize your bookmarks in whatever manner is most meaningful to you. You can save them by city, by trip, by topic, etc.

How do I add bookmarks?

Using the Gusto Grabber,(http://www.gusto.com/gusto_grabber) you can combine the great information on Gusto with the Web sites that are most important to you and tell your friends to check out your places i've been and places i'm going sections. The Grabber is easy to use - just follow the instructions here(http://www.gusto.com/gusto_grabber) and you're ready to go!

What is a bookmark? How do I make one?

my gusto - Photos

How do I upload photos to my album? To a product page?

We want to see where you've been! You can upload your great travel pics by going to your myphotos section. To upload photos from your computer, click Upload/Import Photos, then use the Browse buttons to select the photos you want to upload. Next choose which photo album you'd like to add the photos to (everyone has an 'All Photos' album by default). You can use the Where were these photos taken? box to associate/link these photos with a country, state, city or specific place by doing a quick Gusto search for that place. Then click Upload and wait while your photos upload. You'll be taken to the photo album with the newly uploaded photos as soon as Gusto has finished processing your photos.

Do you have a photo album that you want to share on Gusto but you've already uploaded it to Yahoo Photos, Google's Picasa Web or Flickr? If so, in your mygusto photos folder under Upload/Import Photos, you can click the link to the photo service you use, then copy the URL of your photo album at that service into the URL box following the site-specific directions for that service. You can import the photos into an album you've already created, or create a new album at this point by selecting "Create new" in the drop down menu next to Upload photos to this album. You can use the Where were these photos taken? box to associate/link these photos with a country, state, city or specific place by doing a quick Gusto search for that place. Gusto will quickly copy all the photos from the album over to your Gusto account (we don't modify your other photo service pictures at all).

You can also upload a photo directly to a product page by clicking on its Photos tab then clicking the "Click here" link in the last sentence of the text. Then just use the Browse buttons to select the photos you want to upload; the photos will automatically be directed to the product page you've chosen, and a copy will also be saved into your photo albums (you can choose which album or just let the photo go into your All Photos album).

Why do you require verification when I change my e-mail address?

Until this link is clicked, we continue using the previous e-mail address for all correspondence. This e-mail should show up in your inbox shortly after you first change your e-mail. You also may need to look in your junk, spam or bulk mail folders.

If you didn't upload a photo when you created your profile or you just want to change your photo, all you need to do is go back to your personal Gusto page and click the Change your member photo link. If you don't have a photo you want to use, you can choose one of Gusto's pre-made photos by clicking the line that says Select from Gusto's stock icons.

Use the "View/Cancel Reservation" link provided on the Travel Reservations page.

What is the cancellation policy on my reservation?

When you are completing the Credit Card Information page, the Cancellation Policy will be provided at the bottom of the page. In general, the standard increments are that you must cancel the room(s) by 4 or 6 PM on the arrival date, or 24, 48, or 72 hours prior to your specified arrival; however, these are just general guidelines and the specific policy of the property will prevail. If you cancel before the deadline, generally you will not be charged a penalty. Canceling after the stated period will result in a cancellation penalty fee. Some reservations are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled after booking.

Reservations will apply a cancellation fee regardless of the timeframe of cancellation.
